IMPLANTOLOGY

Artificial tooth roots, so-called implants, have been used to replace individual missing teeth and rows of teeth for decades. They are anchored to the jaw bone and serve as a base for crowns, bridges or retaining element for dental prostheses.

Nowadays implants can be used for virtually any situation, although the key prerequisite is adequate bone volume. Sometimes bone grafts are required. However, there are groups of persons where implants are associated with higher risks. A thorough individual examination and consultation is therefore extremely important.

Advantages of implants

  • Using an implant to fill a gap in the teeth, unlike a bridge, does not require grinding the adjacent teeth.

  • There is no bone loss as in the case of missing teeth.

  • Implants are an excellent treatment with respect to function, durability and a natural appearance.

  • Implants allow a solid prosthesis retention for an excellent chewing function.

  • The many possible combinations (individual implant, pillar construction, etc.) of implants are a high quality solution for virtually any prosthetic matter.
